This is the only kind of music I want to hear right now. It’s gray, fucking dreary, resoundingly desolate. Dark singer-songwriter-y, Leonard Cohen-y, completely Northern. That chalice is empty, dudes. It won’t ever get filled.
Jacob Milstein’s impending split LP(with Thomas Macfie) Graduation Music is quite a departure if you’re more familiar with his work as guitarist/singer-guy for locals Oll Breds. The thing is, Milstein’s been thumbing around for a while on the strength of these songs, a lot longer than his combo’s been raising roofs and/or breaking hearts.
Macfie’s second side is yet up for streaming on Bandcamp, but from everything we’ve heard from the source, it’ll be awesome too.
Chalk this one up to one of our favorite Missoula-related albums of 2012. When it gets released, probably around the first of December, it’s gonna be worth your every while.
Jacob Milstein’s side of Graduation Music is currently available for purchase via his Bandcamp page. The LPs will be available later this year.
