Four hours is a really long time to spend in the KBGA studios. Four hours is also more than enough time to really get “in the groove” and that helped me to remember how much I love this Roberto Cacciapaglia reissue that came out last year. I played two songs off it this week, they’re buried somewhere in the last half of the show but man…they rule. He was this Italian electronic-music-dude from the 1970s who ran across this Michigan-expat who was in the process of trying to “make it” in modeling. Roberto couldn’t help her with that dream but he ended up giving her a short-lived singing career onThe Ann Steel Album in 1979. Avey Tare (of Animal Collective) seems to think it’s one of the best records he’s ever heard. I think it’s pretty good too. Highly recommended.
Oh hey, if you’re curious what’s coming up in the music world in August in our fair Missoula-town I can only say a couple things: Total Fest. There’s gonna be a bunch of happenings leading up to the fest all month long: Total Feast (a $10 all-you-can-eat-pizza-buffet-fundraiser) is this Sunday 8/5/12, the Residency Series at the VFW is a Total Fest curated spectacular (every Thursday for $3 you get to see some killer TF-related bands), and the festival itself runs from 8/16-8/18. It’s gonna be one top serious end-of-summer. Join us, dudes.
